What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is the world's most recognized environmental management system ( EMS ) standard. The purpose of the standard is to help all types of organizations to protect the environment, to prevent pollution, and to improve their environmental performance.
The standard outlines key requirements companies should comply with in order to operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
What types of companies implement ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is applicable to organizations of all sizes, from small businesses to multinational companies. However, there are four main reasons why organizations are motivated to implement ISO 14001. These are:

What are the differences between ISO 9001 and ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 was designed to harmonize with ISO 9001. The basic premises are the same; however, the EMS standard requires an organization to deal with legal requirements, look at environmental aspects and their impacts, assess risks of environmental issues, then identify objectives and targets to control them – the items on the left of the chart below.
